Recipe: Green Smoothie Goodness!

Although I’ve had the odd green smoothie here and there, they’ve never been a staple in my diet – until this year! I’ve found that a green smoothie is an amazing way to kickstart my day - I am hooked!

I like to use green tea that was brewed the day before and left to cool in the fridge over night. I do not add any sugar to the tea – I literally just brew it and chill. Green tea is rich in polyphenols, an effective tonic for cardiovascular health and fat burning as well as L-theanine, an amino acid that had a calming effect and helps with concentration.  

 

Ingredients

1 green apple, skin on, chopped into chunks (seeds removed)

1 small cucumber, chopped into chunks

1 cup of baby spinach

½ cup of kale

Juice of ½ a lemon

1 cup of chilled green tea

1 cup of coconut water

 

Method

Place all ingredients in blender with some ice and blend. Add more coconut water if mixture is too thick. Enjoy!
